🎃 Tried Three Halloween Donuts from Mister Donut!
I recently treated myself to three limited-edition Halloween donuts from Mister Donut.
Japan has a way of embracing foreign holidays like no other. Just like Christmas and Valentine’s Day, Halloween has become a staple event. These days, dressing up and walking through Shibuya has become a tradition, and the streets are packed with people in costumes. I’ve never really joined the festivities, but I often find myself wondering—what is everyone actually doing out there?
My mom once told me, “You used to beg for a Halloween costume. Who knew it would turn into such a big thing? You were ahead of your time.” I’m not sure about that, but I do wish I could go back and buy a cute costume for my younger self. There were so many adorable Disney princess outfits I would have loved.
But back then, things were tight. My dad ran a small business, and although people on the phone would ask, “Is the president available?” it was really just my mom and dad running a shop that barely stayed afloat. We couldn’t even afford costumes—sometimes even my school fees were a stretch.
Fast forward to today, and I’m indulging in a little luxury of my own: donuts. These Halloween donuts are part of a special collaboration with Black Thunder, the beloved Japanese chocolate bar.
First up: the Black Thunder Angel. It’s basically Mister Donut’s classic Angel Cream, topped with a rich layer of Black Thunder chocolate. It felt like eating a parfait in donut form. The crunchy biscuit bits, the smooth whipped cream—it was indulgent and perfectly balanced.
Next: the Black Thunder Choco Fashion. I’m not a big fan of old-fashioned donuts to begin with, but the Black Thunder chocolate gave it a richness that made it enjoyable. I’m sure fans of old-fashioned donuts would love it even more.
Last but not least: the Black Thunder Chocolate. This one was my favorite. The dough had a soft, cake-like texture with a subtle chocolate flavor, and the thick chocolate coating with cookie crunch made each bite heavenly. If I were to gift one of these to someone, it would definitely be this one.
All three donuts had thick chocolate coatings and were generously filled with chocolate cream. The crunchy texture, the melt-in-your-mouth chocolate, the cookie bits—it was all thoughtfully crafted and full of surprises.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say the appearance didn’t quite scream Halloween once the packaging was removed. The clear wrapper had monster eyes printed on it, which was cute, but I wish the donuts themselves had more visual flair. It would’ve made for better photos!
Apparently, the concept this time was that three popular donuts were struck by lightning and transformed into Black Thunder monsters. With that backstory, a little more “monster magic” in the design would’ve made it even more fun.
Still, flavor-wise? Total win. Can’t wait to see what Mister Donut comes up with next.

ミスド×ハロウィーン🎃今年の限定ドーナツ3種を実食レポ
ミスドでハロウィーンの限定ドーナツを3種類、食べ比べてきました。
日本って、海外のイベントを取り入れるのが本当に上手ですよね。クリスマスやバレンタインと同じように、ハロウィーンもすっかり定番に。最近では渋谷で仮装して街を歩くのが恒例になっていて、当日は仮装した人たちで溢れかえっています。個人的にはあまり参加したことはないのですが、「みんな何してるんだろう？」と不思議に思うことも。
母に「あなた、昔はハロウィンの仮装したがってたのよ。まさかこんなに大きなイベントになるなんて、先見の明があったのかもね」なんて言われて、ちょっと照れ笑い。正直、先見の明があったかは分からないけど、あの頃の自分にかわいいコスチュームを買ってあげたかったなと思います。子ども用ならディズニープリンセスの衣装とか、いろいろ選べただろうに。
でも当時、父は個人事業主で、家計はなかなか厳しくて。電話越しに「社長さんいらっしゃいますか？」なんて呼ばれることもあったけど、実際は母とふたりで切り盛りしていた赤字続きのショップ。コスチュームどころか、学費までギリギリだったのだから仕方ないですね。
そんな私も大人になり、今では自分へのご褒美にドーナツを大人買い。今回のミスドのハロウィーンドーナツは、あの人気チョコ「ブラックサンダー」とのコラボ！
まずは「ブラックサンダーエンゼル」。ミスドの定番「エンゼルクリーム」に、ブラックサンダーのチョコがコーティングされていて、手に持って食べるパフェみたいな満足感。ビスケットのザクザク感、生クリームのなめらかさ、すべてがバランスよくて、とっても贅沢な一品でした。
次に「ブラックサンダーチョコファッション」。私はもともとオールドファッションがそんなに得意じゃないのですが、ブラックサンダーの安定感のあるチョコ味がそれをカバーしていて、これはこれでアリだなと感じました。
そして最後は「ブラックサンダーチョコレート」。今回の3つの中で一番のお気に入り。チョコ風味のしっとりした生地にブラックサンダーのザクザクチョコが重なっていて、口に入れた瞬間に笑顔になれるおいしさ。誰かにひとつだけプレゼントするなら、これを選びたいです。
どのドーナツにも共通していたのが、厚めのチョココーティングと、中にしっかり入ったチョコクリーム。噛んだ瞬間のザクッとした感触、口の中でとろけるチョコのコントラストが楽しくて、細部までこだわりを感じました。
ただ、ひとつだけ残念だったのは、パッケージを外すと見た目が普通のドーナツになってしまうこと。透明の袋には目が描かれていてモンスターっぽさはあるけど、もう少し映えるデザインだったら写真に残したくなったかも。
ちなみに今回のコラボには、設定があって、「人気ドーナツ3種がブラックサンダーモンスターに変身しちゃった！」というストーリーがあるそう。そう聞くと、もっと見た目にも“変身感”があるとワクワクしそうですよね。
とはいえ、味は文句なしに大満足。次の限定商品も楽しみです。ごちそうさまでした！
