Noticing the Little Differences Between Japan and Other Countries

Today, I thought I’d write about something a little different—some of the differences I’ve noticed between Japan and other countries.

Why this topic? Well… honestly, I’ve been running low on blog ideas lately 😅
But then I realized, there are so many everyday moments that make me think, “Wait, is this just a Japanese thing?”

One example that popped into my head is using smartphones during work hours.
What’s it like in your country? Is it okay to text your friends while you’re working? 📱

In Japan, it’s often considered bad manners to use your phone during work.
People worry about how it looks—like you’re not focused or slacking off.
Especially in desk jobs, even just replying to a quick LINE message can feel a little nerve-wracking under your boss’s watchful eye.

That said, for people in sales or jobs where they’re always out and about, things might be a bit different.
Maybe they text their family while commuting or reply to messages during little breaks throughout the day.
But that’s just my guess, to be honest—I can’t say for sure 😅

On the flip side, in many countries (though of course it varies), using your phone at work seems way more casual.
People chat with friends during the day, watch videos at lunch, and overall just seem a bit more relaxed about it 🌍✨

It’s not that one way is right and the other is wrong.
Each culture has its own values and habits, and I find that really interesting.
Noticing those small differences helps me step outside of my own “normal” and see things in a new light.

日本と海外の違いって、意外と日常にあふれてるかも？

こんにちは〜🌷
今日はちょっといつもと違うお話をしてみようかなと思って、「日本と海外の違い」について書いてみることにしました✍️

なんでかっていうと、最近ブログのネタがちょっと尽きちゃって…（笑）でも、ふとした日常の中に「これって日本だけ？」って思う瞬間、けっこうあるな〜って気づいたんです。

たとえば、仕事中にスマートフォンを使うこと。
皆さんの国では、オフィスでスマホを触るのってどう思われますか？📱

実は日本では、勤務中にスマホをいじるのって「マナー違反」ってされがちなんです。
上司の目もあるし、仕事に集中してないって思われるのがちょっと怖くて💦
特にデスクワーク中心の職場では、こっそりLINEを返すのもドキドキすることがあるかも…。

でも、営業職のように外回りが多い人たちは、少し事情が違う…のかもしれません。
たとえば移動中に家族とやり取りしていたり、ちょっとしたスキマ時間に連絡を返していることもあるのかな？なんて、私の勝手な想像ですが😅

一方、海外だと（もちろん国にもよるけど）、もっとカジュアルにスマホを使っている印象があるかも。
仕事中でもチャットで友達とやりとりしてたり、お昼休みに動画見てたり、けっこう自由な雰囲気を感じます🌍✨

「仕事中＝完全にプライベート遮断」じゃなくて、「メリハリさえつければOK」みたいな文化、ちょっとうらやましいな〜なんて思ったりして。

どっちが正しいっていうわけじゃなくて、その国その国での価値観や習慣があるから面白いんですよね😊
こういう小さな違いに気づくことで、自分の中の“当たり前”も少しずつ変わっていく気がします。
