Burger or Pasta? My First Taste of Wendy’s First Kitchen 🍔🍝
Today I went to Wendy’s First Kitchen and treated myself to a burger and some pasta 🍔🍝
Actually, I’ve always been a huge fan of Burger King. But when ChatGPT suggested, “Hey, Wendy’s is pretty good too,” I figured—why not give it a try?
Wendy’s has recently partnered with First Kitchen, relaunching as Wendy’s First Kitchen, a Japanese fast-food chain. Up until now, I only really knew McDonald’s and Burger King, so I asked my mom, “Hey, have you heard of Wendy’s?” Her response? “Wait, that place still exists? I tried it ages ago but totally forgot what it tasted like.” 😂
So yeah, it kind of had this vibe of being a lesser-known burger joint.
But hey—time to give it a shot!
📅 Day 1: Teriyaki Burger
The staff recommended the regular-sized burger over the Jr. size, saying it had a thicker patty—so I went with that.
The bun was soft and slightly flat, and the patty was nice and thick. The overall flavor was super simple and felt kind of homemade, like something you’d get from a local bakery rather than a mass-produced chain. It didn’t have that overly processed feel like McDonald’s, but it also didn’t pack the flavor punch of Burger King.
I wondered if the taste lacked “umami,” so I asked ChatGPT. It explained that in many Western countries, people don’t focus on umami as much as we do in Japan. So what might feel “light” to me could taste well-seasoned to someone else. Interesting, right? Maybe this is the kind of comforting flavor that would feel familiar to foreigners living in Japan.
📅 Day 2: Jr. Wendy’s Chili Burger Set + Carbonara Pasta
I used the discount coupon I got on Day 1 and ordered the chili burger set and pasta!
ChatGPT had mentioned that the chili burger might have a stronger flavor—and yep, it was definitely more seasoned than the teriyaki burger. The chili wasn’t super spicy, but I personally preferred this one. It had a subtle kick, and that little bit of spice added a nice touch to the otherwise simple flavor.
The bun had a slightly dry texture, which somehow reminded me of Muji-style minimalism—natural and unrefined (though I can’t say for sure what’s actually in it, haha).
The fries were a bit irregular in shape, which made them feel more “real”—like actual potatoes. I kind of loved that!
As for the drink, I had melon soda. The strong carbonation finally gave me that classic fast-food-chain feeling. Weirdly comforting!
The real winner of the day though? The carbonara pasta!
Thick, chewy noodles that tasted just like fresh pasta from a proper Italian place. I was seriously impressed. At the register, they asked if I wanted grated cheese and habanero sauce—I went heavy on the cheese and just a touch of the hot sauce. Being able to adjust the flavor to your liking was a nice little bonus.
The pasta was so good, I definitely want to try another flavor next time!
And oh—now I’m super curious about their desserts too… 🍮💕

ウェンディーズファーストキッチン初体験！パスタとハンバーガー、どっちが美味しい？
今日はウェンディーズ ファーストキッチンで、ハンバーガーとパスタをいただいてきました🍔🍝
実は、私はもともとバーガーキングが大好き。でも、ChatGPTに「ウェンディーズもなかなかいけるよ」とおすすめされたのがきっかけで、今回初めて行ってみました！
ウェンディーズは近年「First Kitchen」と提携して、「ウェンディーズ・ファーストキッチン」として再出発したファストフードチェーン。マクドナルドとバーガーキングしか知らなかった私は、母に「ウェンディーズって知ってる？」と聞いてみたら、「え、その店まだやってたの？昔食べたけど、もう味忘れちゃったわよ〜」という反応（笑）。そんなこんなで、ちょっとマイナーなハンバーガーチェーンという印象に。
でも、いざ実食です！
◆ 1日目：てりやきバーガー
店員さんに「Jrサイズより普通サイズの方が肉厚でおすすめです」と言われ、迷わず大きめのサイズを注文。
バンズはぺたっとしていて、パティは肉厚。全体的に素朴な味わいで、まるで町のパン屋さんで買ったパンとお肉を合わせたような感じ。マクドナルドのような“練り物っぽさ”もなく、でもバーガーキングほど味がガツンとは来ない印象です。
旨味がちょっと少ない？と思ってChatGPTに聞いてみたら、「海外では“旨味”で食事を楽しむ文化が日本ほど強くない」とのこと。なるほど、外国人にとってはこれくらいの味でも“しっかり味付け”に感じるのかも。そう考えると、外国人が日本でホッとする味なのかもしれませんね。
◆ 2日目：Jr.ウェンディーズチリバーガーセット＋カルボナーラパスタ
1日目にもらった割引券を使って、チリバーガーセットとパスタを注文！
チリバーガーはChatGPTが「こっちの方が味が濃いかも」と言ってた通り、てりやきバーガーよりしっかり味を感じました。チリの辛さは控えめだけど、私は断然こっち派。素朴な味わいの中に、ほんのりスパイシーさがアクセント。パンも少しボソっとした食感で、“無印良品”みたいなナチュラル感が漂います（実際どうかは不明ですが…笑）。
ポテトも整ってない形が“いも感”たっぷりで素朴。これはこれで美味しい！
ドリンクはメロンソーダ。強炭酸で、ようやくファストフードっぽさを感じてちょっと安心（笑）。
そして大正解だったのがカルボナーラパスタ！
もちもちで太めの麺は、まるで生パスタのよう。以前どこかで食べた美味しいパスタにそっくりで感動しました。レジで「粉チーズとハバネロソースをお付けしますか？」と聞かれたので、粉チーズをたっぷり、ハバネロソースは少しだけ。自分好みに味を調整できるスタイルも嬉しいポイントです。
パスタがすごく美味しかったので、次は違う味にも挑戦してみたい！
