Hello, I’m MIKI, the person behind this blog. I’m based in the Kanto region of Japan. I write about everyday life, travel, and food, and recently I’ve been focusing on sharing Japanese culture and local experiences with international readers as well.

This blog, “The Real Japan: For All Generations – But Am I a Millennial or Gen Z?”, explores the beauty of everyday life in Japan—from seasonal traditions and local gourmet food to gardening and sweets—through bilingual posts in Japanese and English.

With parents who both had short-term travel experiences abroad, I grew up surrounded by international stories and diverse friendships. I was often praised for my English pronunciation in junior high school, but a school transfer disrupted my studies and made it harder to keep up.

Although I stayed passionate about English, life as a working adult made it difficult to continue studying. But with the arrival of ChatGPT and the excitement around AI-powered learning, I felt a renewed sense of motivation. That’s what inspired me to create this blog—to share fun and accessible content for language learners like me.

I haven’t passed the Eiken Pre-1 yet, but I hope this blog becomes a cozy space where we can enjoy learning about language and culture together ♡

はじめまして。当ブログを運営しているMIKIと申します。関東在住です。日々の暮らし・旅・食べ物についてブログを書いています。最近は日本文化やローカルなお出かけ情報を、海外の読者にも向けて発信することに力を入れています。

当ブログ「The Real Japan: For All Generations – But Am I a Millennial or Gen Z?」では、日本の日常風景や行事、ローカルグルメ、スイーツ、家庭菜園など、身近な暮らしの魅力を日英バイリンガルで紹介しています。

海外経験のある両親の影響もあり、幼い頃から異文化や英語に親しんできました。中学時代には英語の発音を褒められることもありましたが、転校をきっかけに学習がうまくいかない時期もありました。

その後、英語への情熱は持ち続けていたものの、社会人になってからは忙しさに追われ、しばらく学習から離れていた時期も…。ですが、近年のChatGPTの登場に刺激を受け、「今なら楽しみながら英語を学べるコンテンツを発信できるかも」と思い、このブログを立ち上げました。

英検準1級はまだ未取得ですが、等身大の視点で、言語や文化についてみなさんと一緒に学んでいける、そんな場所になれば嬉しいです♡
